At the early age of 9, I had already been getting requests from family members to rub their feet or shoulders. By the age of 15 my family and I were more than certain that massage was my calling. It was around this time my mother shared with me that her mother, Makerita Fuamatu was considered 'the healer of the village' in Samoa. I give thanks to my wonderful grandmother everyday for passing this magnificent gift to me. My father also shared that his mother's strength was not only her heart but her hands as well.

I enrolled in the Massage Therapy program of Remington College of Honolulu in 2003, and a year later started practicing after receiving my Hawaii License. Relocating to Sacramento a little over a year and a half, has been the most extraordinary phase of my life. I have been blessed with continuing to share my talent with the people who have been extremely grateful to worked on.

I am approaching my seventh year of being a licensed Massage Therapist and I am certain that there will be more exhilarating years to come. This career has given me the chance to love life in every aspect. My lifetime goal with every session is to provide my client the acknowledgement of grace and worthiness of relaxation through love and understanding. I am more than proud to say I have accomplished this, and will continue to do so. I look forward to working with you!

I started my training at the Healing Arts Institute in Citrus Heights, CA. As soon as I started school, I knew massage is what I was meant to do! Since completing their Swedish Massage program in August 2009 I have also taken Deep Tissue, Sports Massage, Reflexology and Orthopedic classses, and I have my California state license. I specialize in swedish/deep tissue as I love massages that relax you completely while throughly working your muscles. I enjoy learning more and more about massage and look forward to keeping up with my education. I love massage therapy and could not imagine where my life would be without it!

I am passionate about making healthy decisions that create a state of well being, both for myself and others. We are faced with choices about our health everyday, and our decisions shape our present reality as well as our futures. I feel that taking care of ourselves and our community is the most important thing we can do. Wellness truly is integrative, and I see massage therapy as an important contributor.

After experiencing the benefits of incorporating yoga and thoughtful nutrition into my everyday life, as well as having a history in which massage was an important part of my own personal healing process, I became deeply interested in bodywork. I decided to study at the Massage Therapy Institute in Davis last year to further develop my knowledge and skills. I am now certified through the state of California and though I currently specialize in Swedish/Deep Tissue massage, I continue to broaden my education through various courses offered by MTI. I look forward to working closely with others to achieve a healthy, peaceful relationship between the mind and body.

Massage Therapy is one of the most ancient healing arts. Recent Studies prove that human touch is a basic nutrient for survival. As our technical world advances, human touch is lost more and more in our society. We are bombarded with cell phones, computers, and televisions. This electronic overload creates a loss of human contact. Attention to our personal needs and feelings are focused online. We have lost physical contact and personal interaction in our daily lives.

Massage Therapy not only provides touch therapy for our physical body, but our mental well being as well. Massage increases circulation, improves blood flow and stimulates the movement of lymph fluid. This increase speeds the removal of toxic wastes and allows nutrient rich blood and oxygen to reach all parts of the body. The enhancement of waste removal lessens the chance of toxic build-up (knots) to form which can become a permanent adhesion and cause tremendous discomfort. Massage sessions help to reduce physical and mental fatigue and stress. Massage can also help you sleep better, reduce your anxiety, and create an overall sense of good health.

Deep Tissue / Pain Management

This session is an hour long and with work done only on the trouble areas, such as neck, shoulder, low back. This massage may include light pressure on some trigger points, depending on how the body is reacting. May include hot or cold packs.

I like to work with clients through a series of visits, preferably weekly. If you choose to book a series of 4 – Deep Tissue Bodywork sessions, the price will be $225. Each week we will discuss the progress you’re experiencing, and talk about what I’d like to work on for each session. I’ll also show you stretches that you can do on your own to help loosen up the trouble areas. Once the chronic pain has minimized, a maintenance session once or twice a month should keep you feeling your best.

Series of 4 – 60 min D.T. Bodywork sessions: $225

Customized

This massage can be full body with a focus on trouble areas, with a combination of relaxation and therapeutic techniques. Each session is customized to your individual needs. Pressure can range from light to deep. This full body massage includes face, scalp, hand and feet if you prefer. I will combine Swedish massage with other modalities such as shiatsu and myofacial release.

Sports

Pre-event, Post-event or maintenance sessions. I will focus on the areas that are used most during your activity. The massage includes numerous stretches, so I’d prefer you to wear shorts during the session. (short enough to allow me to work your hamstrings and quads)

Myoskeletal Alignment

Myoskeletal alignment technique is a type of bodywork which blends the principles of osteopathy and structural integration to relieve chronic pain, and to reduce the potential for the emergence of pain which could become chronic over time.

The basic idea behind myoskeletal alignment technique is that back and neck pain are caused by fundamental problems with the musculoskeletal system. Tight, stressed muscles contribute to pain by limiting freedom of movement, while weak muscles provide inadequate support for the body. This in turn leads to posture problems, stiffness, and other symptoms which create an endless cycle of pain. By addressing the fundamental issues in the muscles and fascia, I hope to eliminate the painful symptoms.

In a session of myoskeletal alignment technique, I work to lengthen tight, strained muscles with the goal of releasing tension and allowing those muscles to function more normally. At the same time, weak muscles are encouraged to grow stronger with the use of gentle, focused stretches which work those muscles. The muscles and fascia will also be manipulated to release pain and to encourage proper musculoskeletal alignment.
